হ-বাংলা নিউজ : Robert A. Long, a 21-year-old white man, shot and killed eight people, including six Asian women, at three massage parlors and spas in Atlanta. Thousands marched in Atlanta, Georgia. A protest rally was held in Georgia State Capitol Park on Saturday (March 13th) to protest racism, mistreatment and neglect of foreigners. The protest was attended by Senator Rafael Warnock, Senator John Osaf and Georgia Administrative Officer B. Nguyen.
Nguyen is the first Vietnamese American to work at the Georgia House. Senator Warnock said, ‘I want to tell my Asian siblings that we are all by their side. We are all together. ‘ At this point, everyone unanimously supported Warnock. “No matter what is done to prevent such crimes, no matter what is said, nothing is going to be stopped,” said Gwen, Georgia’s administrative chief. This incident is nothing but an attack on Asians in particular. President Joe Biden also said, “America can no longer accept incidents of hatred and racism against foreigners.” Investigators are trying to pinpoint economic anxiety and sexual addiction. But six of the dead were Asian American women. Many claim that racism and misogyny were behind the incident. People of all ages, races, religions and communities took to the streets of Atlanta to protest the killings. Georgia passed legislation last year to curb hate crimes. If the cause of a crime is race, religion, caste, sex, being a foreigner or sexuality, or a physical disability, the offender must receive additional punishment. But many complain that such crimes cannot be controlled even by law. Police are trying to convict the perpetrator of being mentally ill, as alleged in the Atlanta incident. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
